Raiders vs Chargers : The Oakland Raiders will visit the Los Angeles Chargers for a Week 5 divisional matchup on Sunday, Oct. 7. Sunday the Raiders head to Los Angeles where they will be looking for their first win in 24 years. To be fair, they’ve only had one shot since then. It was the 2017 season finale and they lost to the Chargers, and Jack Del Rio was promptly fired, ushering in the new Jon Gruden era.
Raiders vs Chargers Live
Now Gruden will get his shot to see if he can perform better in LA than his predecessor. His 1-3 Raiders are coming off their first win of the season facing the 2-2 Chargers whose two losses are against the league’s only two unbeaten teams (Rams, Chiefs).
Oakland (1-3) picked up its first win of the season last week, beating the Browns 45-42 in a thrilling, controversial game that went to overtime. Derek Carr threw for 437 yards and 4 touchdowns and Marshawn Lynch added 130 rushing yards for the Raiders, who rallied late but benefited from a few questionable calls by the referees. It was Jon Gruden’s first victory as a head coach since Nov. 30, 2008.
As for the Chargers, the Chargers had a rough outing against the Rams two weeks ago, but a little bit of home cooking seems to have fixed things right up. The Chargers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past San Francisco 29-27. The overall outcome was to be expected, but San Francisco made it more of a contest than the oddsmakers had predicted.
Their wins bumped the Chargers to 2-2 and Oakland to 1-3. In the Chargers’s victory, Melvin Gordon picked up 104 yards on the ground and snatched 1 receiving TD and Philip Rivers passed for 250 yards and 3 touchdowns. We’ll see if Oakland have a strategy for dealing with them or if they lead their team to another successful outing.
